Updated 10/10/2022
We just received news from the SC Department of Revenue regarding its response to Hurricane Ian. This announcement aligns the deadline extensions the IRS announced last week with state deadlines and provides additional information regarding taxpayer rebates.
According to a release sent Monday afternoon, “the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) has extended the deadline for extension filers to file Individual Income Tax returns to February 15, 2023. This tax relief follows the IRS’s decision to postpone its deadline for extension filers in South Carolina due to the effects of the storm. Extension filers should still file by October 17, 2022, if they want to receive a South Carolina tax rebate before December 31 of this year. Those who file after October 17 will not receive their rebate until March 2023.”
For taxpayers filing a 2021 SC 1040 after October 17 and on/before February 15, 2023, the rebate will be issued by March 31, 2023.
The full IL #22-19 regarding the extension may be found here.
