To enhance our grassroots Advocacy effectiveness, we are building a community of members to develop and maintain relationships with South Carolina legislators.
One of the major benefits of SCACPA membership is our effective Advocacy work on behalf of the CPA profession in South Carolina. It is common for our members to participate in committee hearings and activities, advise legislators on tax issues, and give input on pending legislation.
We are now expanding our Advocacy efforts through a Board led effort we call our “Legislative Connections Community.” In this effort, we are committing Association time and effort to ongoing support of individual member-to-legislator connections.
We are actively asking members who have an existing relationship with a legislator to let us know and become a Connector.
If you don’t know a legislator, that’s OK too. We have existing legislators we’d like to connect with one of our members to be a SCACPA supported resource on tax, budget and financial issues.
SCACPA has designed a communications package with contact pieces to send to legislators on a bi-monthly basis. These will help our member-Connector become a trusted technical advisor for the legislator.
As well, we will be hosting in-person and virtual gatherings to socialize and meet other Community members.
