SCACPA Board Chair Zoe Davis, CPA, and the entire Board of Directors invite all Association members to attend SCACPA’s Virtual Annual Member Meeting (MEABMLI), which will be held via livestream on Monday, May 18 from noon-1:00 p.m.
This is one more adjustment all of us must make in our period of social distancing. Ordinarily, the Annual Member Meeting is conducted during the luncheon of Day One at Spring Splash. We hope you’ve heard that we are working to deliver you two days of Virtual Spring Splash on May 14-15, with two livestream tracks of our Tax and A&A courses (10 total sessions for 16 hours of CPE) that we would have offered. Learn more about how to register for the tracks or just the individual courses you need here while there’s still time.
For logistical reasons, it wasn’t plausible to conduct the Virtual Annual Member Meeting during the lunch break of Virtual Spring Splash, and that’s why we’re inviting you to join us on the Monday after that concludes. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and we look forward to providing you the banquet lunch and camaraderie of your colleagues and peers gathered around lots of group tables next May!
Attendees will vote on the new slate of board members and officers, review the Association’s annual budget and hear reports on SCACPA’s activities. By tuning in, you’ll see how we’ll visually convey the “passing of the gavel” from Board Chair Zoe Davis, CPA, to Ken Newhouse, CPA.
This is a free event, no hours will be deducted from your CPE Bank when you register. We ask that you do register in advance so we can anticipate our expected capacity. The Association’s bylaws state we must have 30 attendees (1% of membership) for a quorum.
A note on Virtual Annual Member Meeting Etiquette: While we’re looking forward to as many members as possible joining us, we’re asking you to remember that the usual “call and response” type exchanges that occur during the in-person gatherings we’re used to will have to be adjusted. Instead of asking for participants to waive in recognition, you can type an “A!!!!” in our chat, which will be easier to recognize. Similarly, when there are times to applaud, you can type an “AAAA.” We’ll make it work, together!
SCACPA sincerely thanks all members who had signed up in advance for the in-person Spring Splash and Entertainment Night we were planning for you to attend in Spartanburg, and we especially thank all members who are registering for Virtual Spring Splash for Tax and A&A.
Don’t forget, after the virtual editions of Spring Splash and the Annual Member Meeting, SCACPA has loaded the CPE calendar for May and June with our other livestream offerings of courses that cover the education you need in Government, Nonprofit, Variety, Ethics and more.
We are recording our speakers in advance as they deliver the content of all these courses that will be offered online, and then will monitor the presentation via chat room during the scheduled time. We’re talking 23 additional courses for a total of 70 hours more of livestream learning. Combined with Virtual Spring Splash, that’s 43 online courses for 86 hours of learning! It’s the most CPE that SCACPA has offered in May and June in Association history. We hope you’ll be able to review the list of livestream classes and register today. As always, if there are additional topics that SCACPA should be offering, let us know and we’ll do our best to have it arranged.
SCACPA sincerely thanks all our members who are representing the Profession with reliability, expertise and resilience. We can’t wait to see you again – in person – soon.
